People have been wondering what the investor line-up is looking like for RISE in July. Time to give you a taste of what to expect… here are 20 investors that will be joining us.

Tony Conrad – Partner – True Ventures

Tony Conrad is the founder and CEO of about.me. He’s a Partner at True Ventures, where he works with some amazingly talented founders from companies like WordPress, MakerBot, HighFidelity, Connectifier, Typekit, Smarterer and Blue Bottle Coffee. He’s a personal investor in the likes of Slack and does heaps more cool things like sitting on the board of the Tony Hawk Foundation. Check out our pre-RISE interview with him.


Melissa Guzy – Managing Partner & Founder – Arbor Partners

Melissa has 25 years of experience within the semiconductor industry as an entrepreneur, CEO, and investor. Prior to founding Arbor, she founded and served as CEO of a VantagePoint semiconductor packaging company where she oversaw the development of leading-edge 3-D packaging that set new industry standards for high-density backplanes. Arbor Ventures is focused on investing in FinTech, Big Data and Digital Commerce. Arbor has offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai,Tokyo and Jakarta.


Andy Zain – Managing Director – Mountain SEA Ventures

For the past 19 years, Andy has been a serial entrepreneur, an executive and an advisor. He has been involved in setting up businesses for several high growth startups including mig33, Vuclip, Deezer Payfone and The Mobile Gamer. He has worked with global brand clients such as Disney Mobile, Yahoo! Mobile and EA Games on their go-to-market efforts. Andy established ideabox, a telco focused tech startup accelerator in partnership with Indosat and launched Kejora, a startup co-working space in Jakarta. An interesting breadth of experience!

Jamie Lin – Founding Partner – AppWorks

Jamie, entrepreneur turned venture investor started AppWorks, the largest startup accelerator in Asia with 226 startups and 450 founders in its alumni network.AppWorks Accelerator admits 25 Internet, Mobile and Smart Things startups every 6 months and relies heavily on its “mafia” to help these startups get to product-market fit, build scalable businesses and create great human organisations. On top of that, AppWorks helps its startups go from 1 to 100 with its US$ 61M VC funds under management, usually by leading seed and Series-A rounds. Jamie co-founded Social Sauce, web 3D game production house Muse Games and Intumit – the leader in Chinese big data analytics and search engine technologies.


Brian Koo – Founding Member – Formation 8

Brian is a founding member of Formation 8, a venture capital firm that provides financial and strategic capital to early growth smart enterprise and energy tech companies. Prior to Formation 8, Brian established InnovationHub, which helped LS Group – his family business – manage relationships and find investment opportunities in energy and technology sectors, specifically in the areas of smart grids, electric vehicles and next generation wireless technologies. He also co-founded and served as a managing partner of Harbor Pacific Capital.
