What a day. Day 1 was absolutely amazing. The buzz around the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre was electric.

525 Startups

525 startups from all over the world who exhibited. Between START; a global gathering of the highest potential and most disruptive startups from around the world and ALPHA, some absolutely incredible startups were seen.

Tonnes of cool demos

Startups and partners have gotten super creative in their exhibitions. We’re talking everything from Rehab Robotics showing off this unbelievable rehabilitation device for stroke patients to Taiwan Startups Stadium hosting football games on the floor.

Neil Shen opening Centre Stage

What better way to kick off our first conference in Asia than with Neil Shen of Sequoia Capital China? Centre Stage has been completely packed out all day. We’ve never seen so much demand for talks in 5 years of our conferences.

The wonderful Jenny Lee

Jenny Lee of GGV Capital chatted with Rebecca Blumenstein of the Wall Street Journal. A lot of attendees were pumped after this.  A unique perspective from the world’s leading female investor.

Werner Vogels

Werner spoke brilliantly on smart application through machine learning.

Lots of drone action

DJI, the world’s largest drone company demoing live on stage. Check out what we periscoped.

Co-host Casey Lau

Casey’s energy was amazing around the venue all day. FYI- tonight he’s organising the very first startup tram in HK. Startups can get on the tram and pitch investors and media while networking with other startups. Find out more here.

See you tomorrow for even more.
