When the sun goes down

Hong Kong offers visitors a varied and vibrant nightlife. Venues run the gamut from rooftop bars to British pubs and karaoke nooks. We’ve picked out a few of our favourites here, but if you’re in an adventurous mood we’re sure a short walk through the right area will unearth a few gems.

Come for RISE. Stay for Hong Kong.

Situated on the 118th floor of the International Commerce Centre, Ozone is the tallest bar in the world. On a clear night, you can see all of Hong Kong. If you only have time to check out one rooftop bar in Hong Kong and want guaranteed views and excellent service, you could do worse than Ozone.

Cé La Vi

Partygoers have been flocking to this rooftop bar for the views and headlining celebrity DJs since it opened. Lavish theme parties involving glitter and a chic dress code are another major draw. If you’re craving an evening bite, Cé La Vi also serves contemporary Asian cuisine, with heavy influence in Japanese and some Southeast Asian elements.

Situated out in Repulse Bay (more on that later), Cabana boasts an open-air rooftop terrace bar, sunbeds, cabanas and even a few Japanese-style pools. Open from Wednesday to Sunday, you can sit back, relax and enjoy the view over the sea, a bit away from the noise of the city.

Ping Pong 129 Gintonería

Sleepy Sai Ying Pun may be an unlikely spot for one of Hong Kong’s best bars, but find the bright red door on Second Street and enter into an artsy wonderland of gin and tonics. Boasting an extensive collection, including an organic g&t with elderflower and lemongrass notes, Ping Pong 129 is a requisite stop for gin lovers.

The staff here wear nautical-inspired clothing to go with the maritime theme of the place (the name references the protective ‘eye’ found on the prow of old Chinese ships). The outdoor bar perched on the top floor offers wraparound views for a superb view of the city. Time it right and you can even catch the daily Symphony of Lights from here, all while sipping one of their signature Suzie Wong cocktails.
