How do you apply to volunteer at RISE?

Who is eligible to volunteer at RISE?
Our volunteers must have a conversational level of English. We ask is that our volunteers are polite, courteous, punctual and committed to contributing to the success of RISE. We welcome applications from people from across the world and are looking forward to working with a diverse, ambitious group of volunteers. All applications will be screened by our Volunteer Team to ensure the RISE volunteers fulfil our criteria.
Are there any age limitations to volunteer?
Yes. You must be at least 20 years old to volunteer.
Where is RISE taking place?
RISE is being held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from July 9 to 12, 2018. The address is Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
Do I need to purchase a ticket?
No. You will be free to enjoy RISE based on the terms you complete your assigned shifts. However, if you fail to complete them, arrive late or leave early, you will no longer be entitled to attend RISE.
Will RISE cover my costs?
No. RISE does not cover volunteers’ travel or accommodation costs, although volunteers will receive a lunch pack on the days of their shift.
When do applications close?
Volunteer positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once applications are open here, you can register your interest to volunteer at RISE. Please note that registering does not guarantee being chosen to volunteer.
What teams can I volunteer with at RISE?
Volunteers will help our RISE team across all areas of the event including our Operations, Registration, Stages, Social Media Live Teams and many more. Volunteers will be assigned to one role for both of their shifts.
How many shifts do I have to complete?
Volunteers will be assigned to a role / team that requires them to either work 3 half day shifts across the event days (5-6 hours long each) or 2 full day shifts (8-9 hours each). The team you are assigned to will be dependant on your experience and availability.
When will your schedule be available?
Your schedule will be released and approved two weeks before the event.
Will I receive training before my first shift?
We will provide volunteers with a briefing to run through the RISE Volunteer Programme, your roles and answer any questions you may have. Date, time and location are to be confirmed.
Where do you register and collect your accreditation for RISE?
You will receive your accreditation before your first shift. Accreditation includes a daily wristband, name card, and t-shirt.
If I need a visa to volunteer at RISE, will you help with my visa application?
While we will not engage directly with your relevant embassy, we can supply you with a letter confirming you will be volunteering at RISE to support your application. If you require a visa support letter please email a list of your passport details to email@example.com
